Elkie is the last of 42 puppy mill chihuahuas we rescued last year after the owner passed. Poor Elkie and her 42 offspring were living in deplorable outdoor conditions and she was the matriarch at just 8 yrs old and had been there the longest and in the worst condition. Bred nearly to death, she was feral, and trusted no one. Heartworm positive and mammary tumors dental disease poor coat quality made her treatment plan expensive and time consuming. Elkie has been in a foster home a year and is now cleared of heartworms, her coat is completely glorious and the color has changed from dark black to a beautiful blue fawn. Elkie will never be a cuddler but she likes life on her terms instead. She’ll jump on the couch beside you but not in your lap. She’s great with all dogs big and small and is more cat like in her demeanor and that’s ok! Elkie likes the outdoors exploring and she’ll even walk on a leash now. She uses peepads inside as well. If you’re the kind of person that wants to give a deserving dog a home to retire in and know what unconditional love is all about please consider giving Elkie that chance. Every dog deserves that and we know her person is out there. A woman would be perfect for her. It seems to be what she prefers. She’s perfectly content and doesn’t require much care, just some good food and a place to enjoy her days. Please consider giving Elkie a home. We have waived all adoption fees despite her being our most expensive dog to treat. Please apply at www.peanutsplacerescue.org
