If an owner never registers the chip, it stays registered to your organization, so a found pet can always be traced back to you.
When the owner registers, your organization stays on the record as a co-registrant. Whoever finds the pet sees a block with your organization's name, website, address and public contact details on the pet's page.
If a finder can't reach the owner, they can contact your organization. If a finder writes to the owner through the pet's Findpet page, you also receive a copy of the message, so you can help reunite the pet.

Findpet microchips are built on an HID Global RFID transponder in a 1.4 × 8 mm bio-glass capsule: small enough for kittens, puppies and toy breeds, and readable on ISO scanners worldwide.

Yes. Findpet microchips follow the ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B standard at 134.2 kHz, which universal and ISO-compatible pet scanners read. Some older readers that only read 125 kHz chips may not.

Fill out the organization application form. After approval you'll receive your Findpet Organization ID. Then sign in, open your dashboard, go to Join my organization and enter the ID. Your organization is now connected: pack linking, co-registration and all other benefits are available. To link a pack, scan the QR code on it.
It stays registered to your organization. If the pet is found and scanned, the finder can reach you.
People who find a pet see your organization's name, website and address, plus the public phone and email from your profile (if none are set, your organization's main phone and email). Your alert email and admin contacts are never shown.
